Adirondack Theatre Festival Goes ‘Duck Wild’ With World Premiere Musical

 MIMI LE DUCK July 21-31

World Premiere Musical set to go on to prestigious NYC Fringe Festival in August.

Work-in progress solo performance COAST TO COAST also upcoming July 26 & 27.

The Adirondack Theatre Festival’s completes its tenth season with its final offering of MIMI LE DUCK, a new world premiere musical, by Diana Hansen-Young and Brian Fienstein July 21-31 at the Charles R. Wood Theater in Downtown Glens Falls. ATF will also be performing COAST TO COAST: On the Road home July 26 & 27.

MIMI LE DUCK showcases the talents of eight performers as they examines art, love, ducks, and Ernest Hemingway. Miriam, played by Annie Golden, is a mother and wife who lives in Idaho, and paints ducks for the QVC channel but dreams of the artist’s life she never lead. She fleas to Paris and begins a bohemian existence among a group of colorful characters. Annie Golden makes her ATF debut as Miriam, the dreamy painter. Golden’s recent Broadway credits include originating the role Georgie Bukatinsky in the Tony nominated musical THE FULLY MONTY, ON THE TOWN, and AH! WILDERNESS. Golden’s credits also include the film IT RUNS IN THE FAMILY and series regulars on Miami Vice and Cheers. MIMI THE DUCK also features Robert DuSold and Allen Fitzpatrick of Broadway credit acclaim. Robert DuSold returns to ATF as Claude/Bishop after appearing as the Father in Gilles Chaison’s rock musical CHRYSALIS in 2001. Dusold’s other credits include LES MISERABLES, PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, CATS, and SHOWBOAT. Fitzpatrick makes his ATF debut as Ernest/LaPoste after appearing in THE SWEET SMELL OF SUCCESS as standby for John Lithgow. Fitzpatrick has also appeared in LES MISERABLES, 42nd ST., BOYS FROM SYRACUSE, and DAMN YANKEES opposite Jerry Lewis. The cast also includes Donald Grody, Bryan Scott Johnson, Nada Rowand, Louis Tucci, and Kristine Zbornik respectively.

  Thomas Caruso directs MIMI LE DUCK. Caruso, whose Broadway credits include the Associate Director of BOMBAY DREAMS, current Resident Director of MAMA MIA (Las Vegas), and Associate Director of the musical revival FOLLIES. Regionally Caruso’s work has been showcased at Ensemble Studio Theatre, Rattlestick Productions, HB Playwrights Foundation, Theatre for the New Cily, Julliard, and Century Center. Chris Fenwick serves as musical director after performing with such shows as Broadway’s WONDERFUL TOWN, CHICAGO,NINE, and ELANE STRICH: AT LIBERTY. Fenwick has also performed in concert with such artists as Patti LuPone, Rebecca Luker, Christiane Noll, and Pamela Myers. MIMI LE DUCK also showcases the work of Andy Warfal scenic design, Chris Dallos lighting design, Carol Brys Costume design and Michael Crevon Sound Design, all making their ATF debut.

MIMI LE DUCK premieres the musical work of Brian Feinstein and book & lyrics of Diana Hansen-Young at ATF. Feinstein composing credits include the Hangar’s Theatre’s musical adaptation of Bertol Brecht’s CAUCASIAN CHALK CIRCLE, their touring version of THE LION,THE WITCH, AND THE WARDROBE, and the ASCAP Musical Theatre Workshop. Fienstein is a recipient of the Jonathan Larson Memorial Fellowship Award; and earned his MFA from the NYU Tisch Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program. Feinstien is also a member of The Dramatist’s Guild and the ASCAP. Hansen-Young is a best selling artist, and writer in Hawaii and has authored and illustrated 16 books including Painted Paradise, released in 2004. Hansen-Young has held office both in the Hawaii State Constitutional and State House of Representatives. She also earned her MFA from NYU in writing and is a published member of the Mystery Writers of America.

ATF is also proud to present the work-in progress solo performance of COAST TO COAST: On the Road Home July 26 & 27 in the Charles R. Wood Theatre in downtown Glens Falls. Writer and performer Mark Wolf chronicles his experiences driving home to New York City in the days following 9/11. Drawing from the interviews along the way, COAST TO COAST celebrates the diversity and complexity of the American Spirit. Wolf received an Obie and was nominated for the Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Award for his Off-Broadway performance of ANOTHER AMERICAN: ASKING AND TELLING and the New Group directed by Joe Mantello. Wolf’s work has also been showcased at the Mark Taper Forum, Seattle Rep, McCarter Theatre, and Trinity Rep. Wolf was commissioned by McCarter Theatre and awarded the 2003 NEA/TCG grant to develop COAST TO COAST. COAST TO COAST is directed by Emily Mann, Artistic Director of the McCarter Theatre. Mann is the author and director of HAVING OUR SAY which had its world premiere at the McCarter Theatre before its successful run on Broadway and national tour. HAVING OUR SAY was nominated for three Tony Awards, an Outer Critics, and Drama Desk Award. Mann’s recent credits include GETTING HOME, ANNA IN THE TROPICS (McCarter and Broadway), and Uncle Vanya.
