About ATF

Adirondack Theatre Festival is a professional not-for-profit company located in Glens Falls, NY. ATF strives to challenge, entertain, and nourish its audience through the development and production of new and contemporary musicals and plays. ATF produces a nine-week summer season of theatre with professional artists from New York City and across the country; and a one-weekend fall film festival.

At Adirondack Theatre Festival, we are actively working towards creating an inclusive, equitable, and anti-racist theatre making environment. We are striving towards building an extensively inclusive setting within our theatrical organization for artists, staff, and audiences from oppressed communities who are historically underrepresented in this field. This includes, but is not limited to, those who identify as Black or African American, Latinx or Hispanic, Asian or Pacific Islander, Indigenous, and all people of color, as well as women, LGBTQ+, people with disabilities, and immigrants. People from historically underrepresented communities are strongly encouraged to apply for ATF’s internship program.

Summer Theatre Internships

ATF’s professional internship program offers intense, hands-on educational opportunities for current students and early career professionals seeking an introduction to the professional theatre. Our goal is to provide interns with practical experience in the shops, rehearsal rooms, backstage, and in the front office as well as valuable networking opportunities with theatre professionals.

Internships are available in the following departments:

Artistic: creative producing, production management

Administration: IT, office management, fundraising

Artist Support: company management, special events

Marketing: digital content, print content, social media, audience services/house management

Stage management/backstage crew

Electrics

Sound

Props/Paint

Wardrobe

Additionally, all internships include artistic experiences such as attendance at first rehearsals, a script analysis workshop, and discussions with the Producing Artistic Director.

Interns interested in musical theatre performance may have the chance to audition for Performing Apprentice opportunities in the summer season. These opportunities vary depending on season selection, rehearsal/performance scheduling, and various other considerations.

Please note: while interns are assigned specific departments and mentors, they are also expected to learn and work outside their chosen area of expertise. We hope to provide the intern with a well-rounded experience designed to inform them of all the various jobs required to mount a professional production.

Compensation

Interns may opt to receive either college course credit or a weekly stipend. Internships are typically full-time commitments which are scheduled according to the rules of Actors Equity Association. However, it is sometimes possible to balance an internship with a summer class or a part-time job. Applicants should specify any potential scheduling conflicts in their application. ATF strives to make its internship program accessible to all qualified candidates.

Housing

Adirondack Theatre Festival encourages applications from candidates who live and/or study in the Southern Adirondack/Capital region. A limited number of housing options are available for interns traveling from more than 45 minutes away. Interns who are able to bring their own vehicle are encouraged to do so.

Applications are open until March 11, 2024.
